Apeksha Hospital Maharagama (NCI) Is the premier tertiary referral hospital dedicated to the diagnosis and follow up of treatment of cancer patients in Sri Lanka. It is under the control of Dept. of Health and provides all its services free of charge. The NCI offers a full range of modern diagnostic facilities necessary for the identification and confirmation of all kinds of cancers. Specialized therapeutic care such as surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy are provided on the supervision of Consultant oncologists.
During the last three years a total of 80,232 patients were admitted at NCI Maharagama for continuation of treatment and investigations. The male: female ratio of in-ward patients were 42.7% and 57.2% respectively. About 88.2% of patients were adults and 11.7% were children. That is a total of 9628 children with cancers
SLLF(UK) Has supported several projects at the NCI Children's ward in the last ten years thanks to the generous support SLLF(UK) received from friends and wellwishers in the past. We hope to continue supporting the NCI with equipment when requested and in it's new building projects, for the benefit of the children with cancers.
